Wolfkit sat there, stunned and saddened. Tears glimmered in her eyes and one ran down her cheek. First he attacked her, and then he ran away...Wolfkit slumped miserably in Deafstar's den...
Cougarstrike padded over to her son. "Whatever are you talking about, my little one? You're not wierd. And you were perfectly normal when you were born." She pulled him close, gently grooming him. "Why all this talk about wierdness and things being wrong with you? You're perfect in my eyes, Sharkkit.." She meowed, her eyes softening as she groomed Sharkkit..

"I-I'm not normal..." he choked out. "I...tried to kill..Wolfkit." he hung his head, breaking eye-contact with his mother. "I'm the worst brother ever. I'm supposed to be the oldest...I always tried to look after them...but this time...I almost hurt her!" he wailed.

"No...I didn't accidentally do anything." he gulped, looking up at his mother with wide eyes. Wpuld she be angry? Horrified? "I tried to attack her. On purpose. And i don't know why. Deafstar saved her by grabbing me." he screwed up his eyes, trying to blot out the image of Wolfkit's fear and confusion from his mind.

Cougarstrike had mixed feelings about Sharkkit's confession. Why would he attack his little sister? But... his confession, and his confusion proved that something wasn't quite right.. "Come with me Sharkkit." She meowed, concerned. "Perhaps Musicwhisper, or Deafstar know something about this..." This was completely unlike her son, and it frightened Cougarstrike a little. She was determined to get answers. Gently, she licked Sharkkit's fur. "Come, little one." She meowed, her mind awhirl..

Sharkkit stood up reluctantly, and heeled at his mother's side. "Mother?" he said quietly, in a tiny, terrified voice. "Will..will I have to leave the Clan? Because I'm...dangerous." he mewed.

"No." Cougarstrike meowed, her eyes softening. "You'll never have to leave, my dear one. I won't let it. I don't think you're as dangerous as you think. Perhaps when you become a warrior, you'll be the most dangerous warrior to all who threaten your clan." she purred chuckling lightly. She refused to think that there could be something wrong with Sharkkit, but... it wouldn't hurt to ask.
To her surprise, Phoenixkit was in the den, apologizing for something..

"But...I'll never learn to..." he struggled for the right words, "control myself." he mewed. "Back there...with Wolfkit...it just happened. I just wanted to hurt her...and I didn't know....how to st-stop." he looked at the ground. He couldn't bear to look anywhere else.

"You don't know that my little one. I promise your father and I, and your siblings too, will do everything we can to help you. Now, chin up. Maybe Musicwhisper can help." Cougarstrike turned to the medicine cat, who was talking to her guilty looking daughter. She had to smile despite the situation. Phoenixkit was always one for getting into trouble. "Good morning Musicwhisper," She meowed. "Hopefully my daughter hasn't done anything to annoy you. But... may Sharkkit and I ask for some of your time?"

Sharkkit looked up at Musicwhisker, then down again. He couldn't bear to meet the eyes of any cat. What if it set him off again? Even now, he could feel that hunger inside him, not all that deep inside, and it constantly threatened to break free of the weak holds he was putting on it. So he looked down, and pretended that no cat was there.

Sharkkit looked up at Musicwhisper, and opened his mouth, but a choking lump had risen in his throat. He aused, swallowed, then tried again. "I tried to hurt Wolfkit..." he whispered. He hadn't meant it to come out as a whisper, but it was all he could manage right now. "I-I don't know why..." his voice was a little louder now, but weak and watery. "I just...she was bleeding...and I just...went mad..or something." he looked away again.
