Painpaw fell to his side, an "oof" escaping him. He just sighed, staring up at the sky. He didnt really care about the lessons or anything today.

A mischevious look flitted across Summersun's handsome face, but it was gone before Painpaw could notice. "C'mon Painpaw, let's do some fishing, as it's clear you're not very interested in battle training right now..."

They arrived by the lakeside. Summersun smiled and took a deep breath of the fresh air. "Mmmm. It smells so good here, so refreshing." The glint flickered in his eyes again and he waited until Painpaw was close to the water...

Painpaw just nod, then sat down away from the water. He just stared at his paws, not really caring. He just wanted to go . . . someplace else. Were there wasnt others to interfer with him. Death. Thats what i need right now. He looked up with glassy eyes.

Summersun laughed. "Hahaha! To see your face it was!" The golden tom doubled over, laughing, and sheilding his face with a paw as Painpaw splashed water at him. "The water cool?" He grinned.

Painpaw just hissed. Then, a thought struck him. Or a perfect tomb. He stared down at the water, then dove under. He would kill himself as best he could.

Summersun gasped. He mentally berated himself for giving Painpaw a chance to try and kill himself again. With desperation, Summersun leapt in after Painpaw....

Painpaw was coughing, the water filling his lungs. He could faintly see Summersun trying to save him. No! I wont let him! He tried to go further out, still trying to drown himself. Come on! Die already! He started to feel light headed, and his body was throbbing. An image of Rubykits face flashed before his eyes. Her crying when he jumped into the strong current of the river. Her voice still echoed and haunted him. Just make it end! More water filled his lungs as he choked.

Summersun swam powerfully and grabbed Painpaw's scruff. With strong strokes, Summersun wrestled the apprentice onto dry land. The water cascaded from his pelt, dripping from his ears and whiskers. He gasped and pushed down on Painpaw's stomach, forcing him to spew the water he'd swallowed, out. "Painpaw! What were you thinking?" Summersun spluttered. "Don't do that, please!"

Painpaw let the water cough up angrily. "Leave. Me. Alone!" Each word came out after a cough. He tried to get away from Summersun, closer to the water. I will die! He was so angry at life, and would end it no matter what!
