Painpaw's apprenticeship

It took all of Summersun's strength, but he prevented Painpaw from throwing himself in the water. He picked Painpaw up by the nape of his neck again, wishing he didn't have to...What was he going to do with Painpaw? He wished he could do something, anything, to get painpaw to stop these attempts on his life, and to actually enjoy life.. He carried the apprentice back to camp. He did not want another scare today..

OOC: which painpaw is worse? Mine or Emeralds? ^^; just curious!

Painpaw hissed tiredly. That had take much of his own strenght trying to stay under the water. He glared down at the ground, feeling like a kit again. "Let me go!" he pants He tried to thrash around and get Summersun to let go. He also looked around for another way to take his life away.

(yours to be honest- he keeps trying to kill himself and he's much more stubborn. With Emerald's- he at least sort of talked to Wolfstorm lol)

"Not a chance." Summersun meowed grimly, keeping his grip on the struggling apprentice's scruff. "I don't want you to hurt yourself." he meowed, voice muffled by Painpaw's fur. After what seemed an interminable age, Summersun finally arrived back at the camp, still dripping wet..

Painpaws eyes flashed, he had an idea. He unsheathed his claws, digging them into his own chest and belly. It hurt, but he would make sure he died. Blood loss, blood loss! He was in major pain, but he wouldnt stop scraping his claws against himself. There was no way that Summersun would stop him!

Summersun growled and threw the apprentice on the ground and roughly pried his claws from his body. Winterstripe padded out, planning on getting a piece of juicy freshkill for his mate Cougarstrike when he saw his brother struggling with his apprentice. Alarmed, he hurried over.

"Win-Winterstripe!" Summersun grunted, "G-Get, Get Painpaw's legs so he can't claw himself!" With his brother's help, the two toms managed to get Painpaw's claws out of his belly and throat, before too much damage was done. Winterstripe, his mouth full of Painpaw's legs, hissed in amazement. Was the apprentice that willing to die?? This required the attention of Deafstar... Together the brothers carried Painpaw to the camp, lifting him by his legs in an undignified fashion. However, Summersun reflected angrily. It was the apprentice's own fault..

Painpaw hissed even more irritated. "Just let me die!" he yowls He struggled with all his might to get out of the twos grips. He tried to scratch them as well as himself. He would not go without a fight!

Deafstar slept peacefully in her den. She was curled over herself, purring happily. She was having a wonderful dream. Her flank rose and fell slowly over her happy body.

Winterstripe and Summersun ignored the apprentice's scratches; they'd had worse, especially in the fight they'd died in. Winterstripe steered them to Deafstar's den, when Cougarstrike padded out of then den and spotted what was happening. Winterstripe frantically motioned towards Deafstar's den, needing help to get the leader. Cougarstrike got the message and hurriedly entered the leader's den, begging her pardon for awakening her, but that there was an issue that needed her attention....

"No! Let me go!" Painpaw whines He struggled as best as he could.

Deafstars ears twitched when she heard a noise. She opened her eyes and yawned. "Whats wrong, Cougarstrike?"

Cougarstrike gestured with her head to the commotion outside the den. "Winterstripe and Summersun are trying to keep Painpaw from hurting himself. It looks like he was trying to rip his own throat out..." She meowed, distressed at Painpaw's insistance on killing himself..

Winterstripe and Summersun refused to budge, holding tightly to Painpaw's limbs. They made sure not to break his skin with thier teeth, just biting down hard enough to keep him from moving..

Deafstars eyes widened in shock. "What?!" She rushed out of her den over to the others. Her eyes had stern, yet soft looks on Painpaw. "Fill me in! On EVERYTHING!" She sounded strained and upset a little. Why would he want to do this to himself?!

Painpaw flinched away from Deafstars look. He looked away, refusing to do anything. He continued to try and break out, but continued to epically fail as well.

"Mreweell," Summersun meowed, unable to speak well through Painpaw's limbs, (I have clarified it so it is understandable ^^) "He keeps trying to kill himself... I tried to take him battle training today, but... he wasn't very ethusiastic. and I regret to say I forgot his suicidal tendencies when I took him to the lake for fishing..." The tom's ears flattened against his skull in shame..

Cougarstrike tried to help, but Summersun shook his head, which Winterstripe was grateful for. Neither of them wanted Cougarstrike hurt by Painpaw's flailing and claws..

"It wasnt your fault, Summersun." Deafstar promises She then continued to stare firmly at Painpaw. "What is wrong with you? There was a reason why Starclan let you live, so why do you deny it?!" Her voice was harsh, yet soothing as well.

Painpaw hissed soflty. He tried to ignore his leader, but it was difficult. Leave me alone! Just let me die in peace! He continued to try and struggle his way out. He still failed all the same.

"Look at me!" There was no longer a sweetness to her voice.

Painpaw froze when his leader spoke again. He looked at her with fear in his eyes this time.

Winterstripe and Summersun felt the apprentice's struggling slow and become less frequent. They didn't dare let go until Deafstar told them to; if Painpaw got away... The golden tom didn't even want to think about it.

"Now you listen and you listen good!" Deafstars voice was a deadly hiss. "You think life is so bad, but guess what? You were born again! What are you going to do?! Kill yourself again! What will happen to all the cats that luv you?! Hmm? Can you answer me this!?" she growls

"I-i . . . they wont care!" Painpaws voice was just above a whisper. He still had fear swelling within.

Deafstars eyes flashed deadly like. "WHAT?! How dare you say such a thing! We would all deeply miss you and you would take a piece of all our hearts with your death! How could you do such a thing to every one?!" she challenges

Painpaw hung his head ashamed. "I-im sorry!" He started to cry with depression. "Im so sorry! Im just so sorry!" He continued to cry.

Deafstar signaled for the two to release him. She stared him down softly.

Winterstripe and Summersun gently released Painpaw to the ground, glad they no longer had to hold him in such a fashion. The three cats nodded, agreeing with Deafstar. If Painpaw killed himself, he would take some of thier hearts with him... Couldn't he see that they and others cared for him?
